The facilities at Gordon College are all top-notch. There have been modifications to the existing structure, and
several new buildings have emerged to make most of the facilities new within the last ten years. The following is a list of the newer facilities
on campus that have been built or remodeled in the last few years.
Lane Student Center
The student center was completely remodeled only a couple of years ago, making accomodations for
the increasing number of students. There is a full salad bar, a pizza shop, a grill, and the main courses offered for each meal. The main part
of the cafeteria overlooks Coy Pond, a gorgeous view for most of the year.
Gillies Lounge
Located in downstairs of the student center, Gillies lounge underwent renovation several years ago to the dismay of some students, and the
delight of many others. Though most agree it now bears a more "hospitally" look and feel, it is now more open and there are more tables. There are regular
concerts in the lounge, and it offers a variety of different cuisines at mealtime.
A.J. Gordon Memorial Chapel
The Chapel, named after the founder of Gordon College, was also built recently, and is one of the beautiful chapels of New England, seating the entire student body in it's
contemporary New England structure. Though asthetically pleasing, the only complaint of many in the chapel has been the acoustics, which have been improved since the chapel was built. The steeple
of the chapel is the highest point in Wenham, and can be seen from many points in the area.
Bennett Center
The Gymnasium/Fitness Center is also one of the newer buildings, with three basketball courts, volleyball courts, an indoor track, a fully equipped
workout center, racquetball courts, and an indoor pool. It is open to all students and staff of Gordon College, with special memberships available to
Gordon-Conwell Seminary students and Staff, and to local folk.
The Barrington Center for the Arts
The Barrington Center for the arts, named for "Barrington College", which merged with Gordon to form "The United Colleges of Gordon and Barrington". It is
Gordon's venture into the technology age, with a movie theatre with surround sound and DVD capability, a Macintosh lab for audio/video editing, and most of the art
classrooms for the Art program. The Center also has an open theatre for the productions regularly put on by the theatre department.
The Phillips Music Center
The Phillips Music Center is the newest building on campus, built for and appealing to those in the music program. It is a beautiful building with windows overlooking Coy pond,
and a courtyard out front which adds to it's appeal. There are several rooms for performances and a wealth of practice rooms for music majors.
